Whaikaha announces two new Growing Voice and Safety services
The two new services, Growing Voice and Safety – People for Us and Growing Voice and Safety – Assisting Change, aim to increase the focus on the voice, good lives and human rights of disabled people and tāngata whaikaha Māori, while also reducing the risk of neglect and abuse in disability support services funded by Whaikaha – Ministry of Disabled People.
Whaikaha is very grateful for the input and feedback from the disability community and providers who participated in our engagement process. This has directly informed the design of these two new services.
The People for Us service will provide another way for Whaikaha to listen to the voices of disabled people and tāngata whaikaha Māori and learn what concerns, issues and trends need to be addressed in disability support services.
The Assisting Change service will be an intensive advisory service for providers who have quality issues and who do not have the capacity and capability to make improvements.
Whaikaha will commission external organisations to deliver these services.
More information about the People for Us and Assisting Change services, as well as information on how we will be procuring these services is on our Growing Voice and Safety webpage.
